“I like people who are really messed up […] Because I felt so much pressure to be 100% good as a man. There’s something magnetic about people who don’t.”

“I’m very nervous, and when I’m in a social setting, it’s like, ‘fake it till you make it.’ It’s important to know that we’re not all social butterflies and dealing with them is a perfectly legitimate thing to do.”

“People fascinate me, but my lens wasn’t set on that. I am amazed by humans because we are not linear. […] Even these people who we think have the most glamorous lives have a lot of faults.”

“I would always get a new notebook and fill it with drawings, reflections, whatever. But it starts with a timeline of everything that happened to this person from the time they were born until we met them.”

“I want to get a job done and then I’m like, ‘I want to play the complete opposite.’ It moves in that direction and from there I find my way to something that I want to be a part of. What I love about the job is always the element of surprise and ‘I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I know it’s going to be very different.’

“The way I like to work is to be completely immersed, and that has an impact. […] I think that was a lesson for me: you have to choose wisely what you can give to a part, then on the flip side, what you can give yourself to get back.

“The longer I live on this planet, the more I realize that people are not simple. There is no right or wrong, black or white. Everything is gray. People are messy and there is beauty in that.”

“I just love people. I love finding out why they do what they do.”

“I have experienced a lot of anxiety as a good person. It’s okay to have qualities in yourself that you don’t like… There’s something about not judging yourself and being like, ‘Okay, this is where I’m at.’ I don’t think I’m a bad person.”

“Smiling at strangers on the street will make you feel great.”

“I think we need to support small businesses now and have a lot of love and appreciation for the brave people who put in the time and effort to create them.”

“Growing up in West Sussex, mine and my family’s local high street was the heart of our community. I have many memories of small, independent businesses that were so charming and welcoming, and always contributed so much to the well-being of our community by supporting these businesses.

“Having lived in Brighton, we’ve been very lucky to have everything you can imagine on our doorstep – and there’s a real sense of community amongst all the small, independent businesses that populate my local area. Working together to support these shops in any way we can is a great way to give back to our communities and preserve the unique neighborhoods that are so important.”

Erin Doherty has always had a knack for acting and performing on stage. All this is evidenced by a well-rounded acting resume she has built up as a teenager.
