“[During pandemic] I started to realize that I had so many things that I always wanted to do, that I never had time for. There are many books and many of my friends exercise. I’m taking three online classes, spending time with my dog, and cleaning every corner of the house.”

“For the last two and a half to three years, I have worked on believing in myself, being patient and understanding that things are not always in my control. It was about accepting and letting go of things – not about attachment to things. “

“I am at peace with what is in store for me. What is going to happen is going to happen. The way things turn out is to be expected. Things flow the way they flow.”

“As artists and actors, we have worked hard to get many ‘no’s’ before we get a yes. Even after we get a yes, we go into the season when we get a no again — a ton of nos.”

“After Mariposa de Barrio, I didn’t work for almost two years. For me, it was perfect because it was an ideal time for me to mature and grow in my craft. It helped me get to where I am now in Penny Dreadful.”

“I never imagined myself immersing myself in different sectors of the industry. Basically, that’s what I love – creating and bringing it to people. We are providing art. We are giving love to experience people through our art. It’s not easy to describe because it describes love, right?”

“I am in love with my art along with my career. This makes me extremely happy. Because we’ve worked so hard for it, and it’s a tough industry to break into, it’s more satisfying and more overwhelming when something happens. It continues to grow throughout our lives. We never stop learning. We never stop growing in this career.”

“We are imitating life, and to imitate life – you have to live. I am extremely grateful overall. That’s all I can say about it. Just gratitude. Grateful to be able to work with extremely talented people.

“I don’t mind getting dirty. It’s funny, because when I was a kid, my mom was like, “You can go out in a white dress and come back with your dress super clean,” because I don’t like getting dirty. But now I don’t care, I’ll roll in the mud. It’s actually more fun! Like, if it’s raining and there’s a puddle and I feel like a kid and jump in it, I do it.”

“Our tendency in life is to move on, not be happy, not do the things we love and just push on. I stopped saying yes to a lot of things that didn’t make me happy.”

“Everyone deserves to be happy now. If we always say, “I won’t be happy until I have a house,” “I won’t be happy until I have this,” “I won’t be happy until I have that,” then we will never be happy, because we are not actually present.”

Stephanie Arcila has always believed in hard work and resilience. Because of this, she is able to pursue her dream career even though it takes her away from her hometown.
