“I felt like I was pulled out of nowhere. After four years at Carnegie Mellon pursuing a BFA in acting, New York City was nowhere, and for years and years, my whole life, really. [doing musical theater and acting onstage]. I have always done this. And now, people are catching everything at once. “

“I feel like I came out of nowhere.”

“Whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing, a morally right thing, a morally right thing, it’s important to humanize people in the media. The industry does a great job of showing all the parts of people that might not be so good, and the things that make them human.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of playing someone in that industry, I have a lot more empathy and sympathy and appreciation for how difficult and stressful their jobs are. As such, the skill required for that, I could never have [laughs].”

“I was amazed at how many people of color, and especially black women, in the financial world reached out to me to say they appreciated that their story was represented.”

“One of the reasons we don’t understand that minorities or young people or women are in the finance industry is because most of the media surrounding it was centered around older white men. But that doesn’t mean other people aren’t into it. Actually, the finance industry is one of the most diverse industries; We just don’t hear about it because it’s not the people at the top.”

“I thought Harper and I were reflecting on the experience. It comes to this point and it’s a ‘fake it till you make it’ kind of thing. There is an incredible amount of imposter syndrome, which I am [understand].”

“When I was very young, I would see these videos of these indie musicians doing these backyard sessions and I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, I’m there, with the artists!’ When I was about to get off the plane, I was like, ‘My dream is coming true! That’s great!’”

“The day I did my first intimate scene, I was like, ‘Oh I’m so excited,’ and then I got on set and got all set and I was like, ‘Fuck, are we going to do this now? ’ But the beauty of how it happened is, thank God.”

“[Industry]of character-driven. It’s relevant whether you understand what we’re talking about or not – because, honestly, I don’t understand the half of it [the script’s financial jargon]. The show allows our audience to feel like they are inside it, because our characters are deep, complex.”

“What makes it different than Legacy or Billions is that the industry brings its viewers into its world through the eyes of the youngest, least affluent. I think virtually anyone can relate to being young and hungry and going up against your peers.

“Representation is not just all the colors of the rainbow [imagining roles] Many, many contradictory things are allowed at the same time. None of this is pretty. It’s kind of confusing. But everyone loves chaos and everyone can relate to chaos.

“I want people to say, she has that range. I’m very open to playing something more innocent, something in the world of romance – a character that’s not outside.”

“[I was taught], you do what you want to do—but karma exists. Respect applies to everyone and everything.”

“You won’t have the most success unless you allow everyone to do what they do best.”

Myha la Herrold has stardom even before her screen role. Add to that the amount of talent and hard work she’s willing to put in, she’s well up for the job.
