“It was fun playing something different. I always think that the most challenging scene as an actor is when you play the role of someone else who is acting.”

“Darkly, obviously, I’ve had the opportunity to tap into comedy on that show as well. No one invited them. Who invited them is very different and the film is difficult to describe. I have a hard time explaining to people what it is, and I’m like, ‘Just look at it.’

“It’s an actor’s dream to embody the physical, mental and emotional aspects of a character, but it’s rare to play a role as long as I’ve played it. One that allowed me to really practice and experiment and gave me comfort and support in an environment that set me up to explore and play.

“There’s a saying in the theater that closing night gets everyone ready to go, and they’ve figured it out. When their lines make sense, the story makes sense, and in four years I found Murphy; Learn about her, make bold choices and push yourself. I’m grateful for that opportunity as an artist and as Perry.”

“Murphy was written as a flawed woman, confident, brave, speaking her mind. I rarely wore makeup on the show, and before playing her, I rarely felt confident going to the grocery store without makeup. Playing with that confidence and finding my confidence as a woman, I have to thank Murphy.”

“I’ve been a mess all my life! We always joke, every actor thinks this job is their last because we don’t know when we’re going to get an audition.

“I realized that I am very motivated by other people and their deadlines and expectations. I’m not as self-motivated as I want to be, wake up at 6am and go for a walk. It’s hard for me to do that if I haven’t already paid for the 7am class, just for me. It’s a bit of a challenge for me to stay excited, motivated and motivated.”

“I have always been involved in artistic things but I don’t have family in the industry. I am from Long Beach, CA. I grew up like a normal child and went to public school.

“I did some community theater but never thought I’d try acting as a professional career until I randomly came across an open call for an American Girl tour on the West Coast when I was 12. I became an employee of Mattel; I did 169 shows.

“[Acting] Sometimes it can be very difficult because you’re never told why you’re not getting something—there’s never feedback. From my experience, I’ve just tried to believe that it’s out of my control and that it’s not because of me, but because of something else. I wonder if it was karma.”

“I think I didn’t really know how exciting being on set could be. If you feel like you’re being given new script revisions, concealer is being put under your eyes, wires are being put in your back, someone is putting lotion on your legs – there’s a lot going on.”

“On the days I was on vacation, I was so excited that it was difficult to even talk on the phone. I just wanted my cat to sit on my chest.

“I have always been interested in directing. I’ve got a lot of insight, especially in the dark, because I’m there every day—I’m there from the first scene to the last. […] I would love to direct the episode. I would really like to do a limited series or a period piece, I like historical pieces based on true stories.”

Perry Mattfeld is not only talented, she’s also smart. These two outstanding qualities have made her acting career possible.
