Hwang So Hee started her career as a disc jockey (DJ) in 2013. She chose DJ Soda as her stage name.

In April 2022, she wrote on Instagram that she was “kicked off the plane and made to take my pants off in front of the flight crew at the gate” after boarding the plane.

At the time, she was wearing dark colored sweatpants with the words “F**k”, “F**k You” and “F**kin’” printed on them. According to her claim, it was sponsored by the clothing brand Ripondeep.
